GRID Alternatives Mid-Atlantic and Forbright Bank Partner on a Solar Installation

WHAT: GRID Alternatives Mid-Atlantic and Forbright Bank are installing a solar energy system on a home in northeast D.C. on Thursday, November 14. The system will provide equitable access to clean energy for a family with a demonstrated need.

Forbright Bank contributed $50,000 to support GRID Alternatives Mid-Atlantic’ss mission to build community-powered solutions to advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energy and cover the cost of solar energy in the northeast D.C. area. The Bank’s contribution will provide essential energy savings to homeowners, allowing them to focus financially on other living expenses. Forbright Bank employees will volunteer to work alongside GRID Mid-Atlantic staQ to install the solar energy system.

The system installed on Thursday will include 24 solar panels and is expected to save homeowners approximately $34,000 in energy costs during the system’s lifetime. The system will also have a significant environmental impact, reducing an estimated 150 tons of greenhouse gas emissions—the equivalent of planting nearly 3,500 trees or removing 29 cars from the road.
