How do I switch bank accounts from another bank to Forbright?
First off, we’re so glad you’ve chosen to bank with Forbright! Here are the steps you’ll want to follow to switch your account over:
- Open an account with one of our bankers. Visit one of our branches located in the Washington, D.C. metro area to set up your new account.
- Discontinue using your old account but keep it open. It can take up to two statement cycles for your outstanding checks and items to clear. In the meantime, turn off any automatic bill pay, destroy unused checks, deposit slips, and debit cards.
- Switch your direct deposits, automatic transactions or bill pay to Forbright Bank. Any existing automatic payments can be updated using your new checking account information with Forbright Bank.
- Close your old account. Once you’ve ensured that all your funds have been successfully transferred and all automatic transactions are switched to your Forbright Bank account, you can use our Business Banking Switch Kit to authorize the closure of your old account.
